Fashion on canvas
nice paintings!
Ex-Miss India and Delhi-based artist Anjanna Kuthiala has gone fashionable this time in her continuing association with
Bollywood.
The lady has painted the Fashion girls – Kangna Ranaut, Priyanka Chopra and Mugdha Godse – as she sees them, on a 6X4 canvas, which will be unveiled around the release date of the movie. The event is slated for tomorrow in Mumbai, and for the 27th in Delhi, where the cast and crew of the movie will be present.
“Madhur (Bhandarkar, the director of Fashion) is a dear friend and considers me family. He’s been there for nearly six-seven exhibitions of mine, sometimes flying down from Mumbai to Delhi just for my show. So this is my way of paying tribute to Madhur,” says Anjanna. “If I paint women on my canvas, he does that in cinema. He’s among the few directors with the guts to make women-oriented films, and they’re not typical commercial cinema, but they do well. So this is his film, on my canvas,” she says.

India:Priyanka Chopra on “fashion”
So more news from “fashion”

But, while the actress admits she had to work out for the movie, she says she’s not very fond of exercising in general. “When it comes to my body, I guess I’m genetically blessed,” she grins. “But, I work out when my characters demand it. I feel very responsible for the one in Madhur Bhandarkar’s film. It’s very real. I put on five kgs for the beginning of the movie because my character comes from Chandigarh to Mumbai for the first time, and she looks very real with that weight. It gives the character a rawness and marks the difference clearly when the transformation happens,” she further chats.
Being termed as Ms Sexy: It is very flattering to get compliments of the ‘most good-looking’ kinds, but I don’t agree with these because I believe that there are many beautiful and sexy women in the country. But, I am extremely grateful to everyone who thinks that I am.
Being fit: When it comes to fitness and caring for my body, I am genetically blessed. I am not very fond of working out and I guess I should admit that. I only work out when my characters demand it. But, yes, when I work out, I can afford to eat everything and even when I am not working out, I am shooting for about 17 to 18 hours, which is equal to physical training.
Her idea of prince charming: Oh, my list is endless and I hope you have time for this! There are two things that I keep in mind — physical attributes and personality. Physically, he has to be taller than me, must have eyes that light up when he smiles, and he has got to be able to dance. I am very fond of dancing.

India:”I think ‘Fashion’ will be well recieved: RGV”
more news from fashion the movie…
When Madhur Bhandarkar sauntered into the success party of ‘Phoonk’ some time back to wish his guru Ramgopal Varma, a lot of people felt that RGV and Madhur merely shook hands for effect, but the scars would be difficult to erase. But that’s far from true!
RGV has decided to reciprocate and he did so while talking to this writer. If there’s one film RGV is looking forward to, it’s ‘Fashion’. “The promos are eye-catching. I like the feel and look of the film. I have a strong feeling that ‘Fashion’ will be very well received,” says RGV.
UTV, the producers of ‘Fashion’, are also confident that the film would rake in big money. Reportedly, they are planning to release

Top 10 women’s fashion trends
have a look…
Time to tuck away those city shorts and wispy camis. Fall 2008 calls for strong silhouettes, bold fabrics and statement colours you’ll wear again and again
How does the fashion industry tackle the fact that shoppers may not actually care about trends this season? Among other things, it cleverly spins a yarn that women should be looking for investment pieces, that the notion of “fast fashion” is incongruous with concerns about the economy and environment.
Clothes won’t be getting less expensive any time soon. In fact, just the reverse seems to be happening; designer boots are now inching into the four-figure price range, which is why the predominant message from fashion’s talking heads is to spend more wisely.
“I think we’re heading into a much more conservative way of dressing, where clothes have a classic but modern bent to them,” says Barbara Atkin, vice-president of fashion direction for Holt Renfrew. “When we see the economy fluctuating the way it is and people are re-evaluating what they are spending, I think we’re actually looking for signals that speak to success. And we’re looking to traditional signals that we’ve all grown up with for decades and decades and they’re coming back in a new way.”
Think bow blouses, chain-link bags, tartan, long luxurious coats, flat boots and updated versions of the little black dress. These are as blue-chip as trends get.

“fashion” will be THE movie of november 08,stay tuned:

Model-turned-actor Samir Soni hopes national award winning director Madhur Bhandarkar’s film ‘Fashion’, in which he plays the character of a gay designer, will be a turning point for his career.
“This is one of the most challenging roles of my career and I am looking forward to justify it with my performance,” says Samir.
The actor, who began his career with Raj Kumar Santoshi’s ‘China Gate’ in 1998 opposite Mamata Kulkarni and later went on to act in films like ‘Lajja,’ ‘Baghban’ and Vivah could not make a successful mark in the film industry.
Samir who plays the character of a gay designer says it is has been the most challenging role of his career so far and the actor is thrilled about this unusual role in the film.
“When I heard about the character, I felt this is what I was looking for a challenging and refreshing role. And I decided to act in the film,” says Samir, who is more famous as a model despite acting in films and TV serials.
Samir made his mark as the effortless and clever Ashok Gupta in Doordarshan’s ‘A Mouthful of Sky’ in 1996 besides acting in hit TV serials like “Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin” and “Saaksshi”.
The actor says that though his character was a little unusual for him but his experience in the modeling field helped him a lot to understand the role.
“As a a model I have lots of gay friends and I also know many gays very closely. So, I didn’t face any problem in understanding the character,” says Samir. PTI

Beijing Olympics 2008: Chinese fashion police crack down on style horrors
Isn´t that ridiculous? Are there no other, more serious problems?
Fashion police at the Beijing Olympics have ordered men to steer clear of white socks with black shoes and advised women to shun leather skirts.
Residents of the city should also shirk embarrassing public displays of affection and fighting over who settles the bill after dinner and avoid garlic.
Rules produced by Chinese officials on what to wear and how to behave stretch out over 36 pages in official booklets and cover nine web pages. They go from general tips, like combing hair appropriately for age to minutiae details such as women with thick ankles wearing darker stockings to disguise their imperfections.
Women get specific fashion advice to avoid common fashion faux-pas, such as matching the length of their skirt to their age and not wearing more than three colours in their oufit. Men on the other hand seem to get more basic advice, including not sporting pyjamas in public, not going out with a bare chest and not rolling up their trouser legs.
While some style recommendations do not need explanations – fat people should avoid horizontal stripes – other tips have their reasoning spelt out: “Clothes should not be too small, otherwise this makes people feel you are unreliable” .
The how-to in the style stakes has been handed out by the Capital Spiritual Civilisation Construction Commission. Beijing will be under the spotlight during the Olympic Games and the Commission are keen that the city’s 15 million residents dress and act impeccably.

A fashion design school for Trinidad&Tobago
A new design school for trinidad&tobago! That´s amazing!
From model to fashion director, to fashion administrator, Christopher Nathan’s world is about fashion.
(picture:tanakawho under CC-license)
But instead of organising events for the catwalk, he will be preparing students to have their designs on the biggest shows as he is now devoting his time to the Caribbean Academy of Fashion and Design (CAFD) at the University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT).
Students in Jamaica will know that there are programmes that cover some aspects of fashion at the Edna Manley College and the University of the West Indies, Mona. But the CAFD will be a school solely dedicated to offering tertiary education to undergraduates who wish to pursue studies in fashion design and management.
Good timing
He says there is a buzz in the region and feels that the school’s opening comes at a good time. He cited a lack of opportunities for training, marketing and investment hindering the development of the industry, but thinks these can be overcome. Nathan started out in the fashion world in 1978 as a model before taking on the management side of the business.

The Basic Rules of Men’s Clothing
If you ever asked yourself how to dress correctly you may read these advices
:
According to Mark Twain, “Clothes do make the man; naked people have very little effect on the world.” If Twain was right, and he usually was, then gentlemen need to dress carefully. Details will vary depending on your profession, your locale and the attitudes of whatever group is hosting the event, but there are a few almost universal rules to being properly dressed. They’re easy to learn and to follow, and they are important.
Semi-formal
Opinions vary, but semi-formal really means a business suit with a dress shirt and necktie. You might see others in blazer and slacks at semi-formal events. This is acceptable, but, if you dress correctly, not acceptably, you will definitely get favorable reviews. Dress shoes are a must.
Business
Business dress varies by company; suits are still expected in many companies and by some professions; blazer (or sport jacket) and dress slacks with dress shirt and tie are acceptable in most places. Business casual, meaning dress slacks and a polo shirt (with sleeves and collar and, ideally, a fancy name-brand logo), is gaining wide acceptance. Dress shoes are preferred; some companies are okay with athletic shoes. Some companies are also okay with extremely casual dress.
Casual
Casual means whatever the host or boss says it means. That can be khakis, polo shirt and loafers or shorts, tank top and sandals. Know your host and you won’t embarrass yourself.
Specialty
Uniforms, work clothes, sleepwear, etc. This catch-all category can be pretty fluid: Specific sports are using more specialized clothing. Many men wear work uniforms outside the jobsite. Scrubs or hoodies and sweatpants are commonly worn in place of pajamas. This is truly the wear-what-you-like arena, unless there’s a good reason to wear something specific.
