Berlin Evolves Its Own Fashion

Not long ago, uttering “Berlin” and “fashion” in the same breath was almost blasphemous, or at the very least an oxymoron. More than a few expats or returnees from the world’s more fashionable cities claimed to feel perpetually overdressed in Berlin, whose native aesthetic that could best be described as either hippie or homeless chic: a carefully cultivated second-hand look whose bedheaded wearers proudly paraded through the capital’s almost painfully cool eastern districts.
