Making a splash
Showing up the ultra-skinny models at New York this week, the US Olympic swim team has been strutting their stuff on the catwalk. A slightly dementedly-happy looking Amanda Beard appeared yesterday in her undies at the Ultimo Oral-B-sponsored show (somehow the idea of a dental company sponsoring an underwear show makes us wince: must be the floss …) and earlier in the week Dara Torres sashayed down the catwalk in a pretty tea dress at Charles Nolan. Will we see Rebecca Adlington on the London catwalks next week? She’d certainly like to model the shoes, we’re sure.
Topshop goes stateside
New York fashionistas are getting excited about the imminent opening of the first Topshop in the US next month. Topshop Unique and the Kate Moss collection has been sold here at department stores but this is the first standalone shop. However dedicated fans can now get their first fix as Topshop.com has launched a US website.

After the Marc Jacobs show such was the outpouring of shiny-haired and towering-heeled fashionistas that even celebrities had to struggle for their personal space. What is the world coming to? J-Lo was among those stuck in the door, with only a coterie of massive bodyguards to protect her. Luckily she kept her cool, revealing her secret to the New York Post’s Buzz column, “Just remember, it’s all part of being an artist”. If only Van Gogh had the benefit of her wisdom.
